Joe Lynch – Consultant

Joe Lynch heads up our education consultancy, Austudy - Australian Education and Visa Service. Whilst based in Sydney he spends much of hs time in Thailand where he has a home in Chiang Mai. As well as working for many years as a practising lawyer he is experienced in the education industry. He has taught law subjects for NSW TAFE. He has written articles on Family Law topics in the NSW Law Society Journal and the Australian Family Lawyer and has spoken at seminars and conferences for the Australian Law Council Family Law Section, the Law Society of NSW and the NSW Specialist Accreditation Board. He has been an examiner for NSW Law Society Family Law Specialist Accreditation for many years and more recently he has written the Property and Finance subject for the College of Law Masters Degree in Family Law Practice.

Joe is an Accredited Family Law Specialist and has been practising law for more than 20 years. He was admitted to practice as a Solicitor and Barrister in NSW in 1979 and was Senior Partner in a large regional law firm in Southwest, NSW from 1986 until 2001 when he returned to Sydney and became a partner in one of Sydney’s leading family law firms.

Joe’s has practised in the areas of tax, business and property law, wills and estates, crime and personal injury litigation. In addition to his law degree, Joe holds a post graduate qualification in Taxation Law from Charles Sturt University.

Joe has served on the NSW Law Society Family Law Committee for a total of 7 years, and chaired the subcommittee on specialist accreditation for family lawyers. He was also on the Family Law Advisory Committee to the NSW Law Society Specialist Accreditation Board, and more recently has been a member of the National Steering Committee on Family Law Specialist Accreditation.

He is experienced in the areas of business and taxation law in matters involving assets such as partnerships, companies and trusts. His practice in country NSW has provided him with an extensive knowledge of rural issues the including water rights, share farming, stock valuations and rural property valuations.

Joe has extensive experience as an advocate and has appeared in cases in the High Court of Australia, the Family Court, Federal Court, Supreme and District Court and in the Federal and Local Magistrates Courts.
